Description
In The Pocket, co-curated by NYC selectors Niyah West and DJ Shannon, is back at Honey’s BK for another night of pure dance-floor magic and fearless genre-blending. Each edition brings a fresh sonic focus, spotlighting standout guest DJs from near and far and inviting them to dig deep into their crates—sharing the sounds that move them, shape them, and set the dance floor on fire. For this edition, Niyah and Shannon welcome the incredible Madre Guía. A queer Afro-Caribbean multidisciplinary artist from The Bronx, New York (unceded Munsee Lenape territory), Madre Guía brings a deep connection to movement and the Black origins of dance music into every set. Madre Guía’s selections pulse with seductive percussion, igniting catharsis and collective release on the dance floor. Working at the intersection of movement and electronic music production, Madre Guía explores ancestral wisdom stored in the body. Through improvisation, play, and queer Afro-Caribbean diasporic expression, the producer and DJ offers spirit-rooted, alchemical soundscapes as tools for liberatory transformation.
