Gonçalo Mendonça, also known as Mendes, is a globetrotting DJ and event organiser originally from Porto. Having lived on four different continents, he brings a worldly perspective to his work in the industry, with a strong passion for bringing people together through music. When Mendes is behind the decks, you can expect a captivating musical journey that ranges from the hypnotic beats of downtempo to the trippier corners of house music. Mendes is best known as the founder of Calypso, a unique daytime electronic music event series that takes place in unconventional locations. From London to NYC, Madrid to Frankfurt, to Lisbon and beyond, Calypso has hosted acclaimed artists such as Mira, Unders and Maga. In addition to his work with Calypso, Mendes has also been a curator and booker for Perola Negra club, micro-festival Porto Sunday Sessions as well as Porto’s most recent hot spot Bosco, showcasing talented artists from the electronic music scene.
