À l’occasion de la parution de son roman Abdallah superstar (Actes Sud), Iman Ahmed produit l’événement My Family Archive. Son roman explore la chaîne YouTube de son père, consacrée à la pop djiboutienne des années 2000. My Family Archive applique, le temps d’une soirée, le même procédé : entrer dans une musique, par des archives intimes. Cette fois-ci, aux côtés d’artistes somaliennes pour une soirée house et nostalgique. #1 SOMALI HOUSE MUSIC   - Talk + Dj set + Projections Pour cette première édition, SAISOUNDS, DJ et productrice somalienne pionnière de la Somali house, nous embarque dans un voyage intime — des chansons somaliennes de son enfance, aux disques que sa mère écoutait, jusqu’à la house music. Mêlant les sonorités de son héritage à la culture club britannique, son travail laisse la musique somalienne muter.L’événement prend forme et se déploie à travers les films de Wasima Farah, cinéaste somalienne et graphic designer qui explore la nostalgie des années 2000 chez les jeunes femmes somaliennes. ----- ENGLISH BELOW My Family Archive enters music through family archives — one night at a time. #1 SOMALI HOUSE MUSIC  - Talk + Dj set + Archive screenings For this first edition, SAISOUNDS, Somali DJ and producer pioneering Somali house, takes us on a journey — through the Somali songs of her childhood, the records her mother played, all the way to house music. Fusing the sounds of her heritage with the energy of UK club culture, her work isn’t about preserving Somali music in one fixed form — it’s about letting it evolve. This event is shaped and carried by the films of Wasima Farah, a somalian filmmaker and graphic designer exploring 2000s nostalgia among young Somali women. My family archive is produced by Iman Ahmed, extending the release of her novel “Abdallah Superstar” (Actes Sud). By digging through her father’s YouTube channel of 2000s Djiboutian pop, she explores the concept of family archive.
