Hailing from Australia, artist, producer & DJ Soul Wun (Blake Carthew) utilises music to access and convey deeper emotions of the subconscious. Harnessing music as a vessel for escapism, Soul Wun builds soundscapes relative to the emotional and situational happenings around him. Evocative vocal snippets above and beyond deeply emotional piano voicings are the key to understanding the mental workings of the Sydney-based artist. From hip hop origins, Soul Wun’s sound has grown into a unique and honest display of his influences. Childhood fascination with the African rhythms of jazz, funk and soul merged with a later obsession with the sound and cultural foundations of more contemporary UK bass, breaks and jungle.
