Before the recording studios, there was theatre—and the night: the one where salsa pulses, glasses clink, and bodies move beneath dim stage lights. This is where Alma Kerouani comes from, a French-Algerian-Chilean artist born in Ivry-sur-Seine, whose music blends Latin music with hip-hop, jazz, and Latin genres—salsa, reggaeton, and baile funk—enriched by oriental music influences that give her arrangements and voice a distinctive identity. Rooted in a rich multicultural heritage and raised in the world of theatre by her actor and musician parents, Alma sees dance, celebration, and letting go as acts of transmission and freedom. She inhabits each of her songs like a different character, drawing on a powerful theatrical stage presence shaped by years of dramatic training. Following the release of her debut EP *Yema* (2021), she brought her project to jazz, world music, and theatre stages, performing from Paris to Santiago. Her new album is set for release in 2027.
